My client, currently require a Solution Architect to work from their Hatfield office (flexibility on location). Competitive salary + bonus + benefits.

The individual will be expected to interact at a senior level with senior managers and chief architects locally and internationally with, customers and suppliers.

Main duties including the architecture and design of large scale resilient enterprise solutions, with scalable, portable and "simplified" architectures to assist the businesses achieve their goals, whilst driving down the total cost of ownership of ICT services. The role will include the ownership and publication of solution service topologies for a customer business (brand/domain) line (i.e. document the existing estate) and any associated architectural RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies) for this service (i.e. the gap between the contracted service and underlying architecture). The solution architect will also, based on pre-defined technology roadmaps, provide and recommend a future topology for each service (i.e. document the to-be picture) and provide roadmaps for each of the solutions, again, for multiple businesses (brand/domain) units.

 Required Skills:

• Broad level of experience across enterprise ICT technologies
• The solution architect will own the architectural design through the initial phases of the design (request, concept and logical), and handing over the design during the logical and detailed phases of the design to delivery management.
• Acts as a source of technical expertise to others in own area
• Proactively acts to understand client needs and offers assistance even when not asked
• Commercially aware, managing costs on assigned projects
• Recent experience in customer facing Solutions architecture
• Ideally holds industry qualifications (e.g. Prince2, ITIL, soft skill courses and training, etc)
• Ideally educated to degree level

 Proven broad level knowledge of enterprise technologies such as;

• Unix, Microsoft and Linux operating systems
• Virtualisation technologies
• VoIP and IPT technologies
• Web and application container technologies (Apache, Tomcat, J2EE, Weblogic, etc)
• WAN, LAN, MAN
• SAN, NAS, DAS
• Data Centre technologies
• Desktop technologies (Active Directory, Exchange, SMS, Altiris, F&P, etc)
• Security and security concepts (Firewalls, DMZs, etc)
• HA and DR approaches (Storage level, OS level and application level clustering, stretch clustering, A/A, A/P, synchronous and asynchronous, etc)
